- Currently there are only potential risks of severe weather in AR, LA and TX with no impacts to transit times or carriers expected over the weekend.
Small Parcel Updates:
- Canada Post Issues: Canada Post resumed limited operations as the Canadian Union of Postal Workers shifted to rotating strikes last week. While deliveries have resumed, rotating schedules continue to cause localized delays, and service guarantees remain suspended.
LTL Updates:
- Diesel Rates: National diesel prices decreased by $0.046 from last week, averaging $3.665 per gallon, which is $0.034 higher than last year. The Gulf Coast region saw the largest decrease, down $0.065 from last week to $3.299 per gallon.
TL Updates:
- Market Activity: Spot load posts are down 11.8% from last week, and spot truck posts increased by 4.9%. The Load-to-Truck Ratio (LTR) was down for vans, flatbeds and reefers.
- Outbound Tender Rejection Index (OTRI): The OTRI increased this week with increases in Van and Reefer rejections, while Flatbed suffered a decrease. The OTRI currently sits at 5.88, up from last week’s 5.67.
- Dry Van: National van demand decreased by 18.5% to a 6.04-1 LTR nationally, with the highest demand spread across most the United States, other than CA, IL, MI, NE and the Southeastern States, exceeding 5.5+ to 1 LTR. The spot rate per mile (RPM) for dry vans is up $0.03 from September, averaging $2.08 nationally, with the Midwest holding the highest RPM at $2.23. VOTRI trends aligned with OTRI week over week. The VOTRI is at 5.51, up from last week’s value of 5.23.
- Flatbed: National flatbed demand decreased by 9.4% to a 26.46-1 LTR, with the highest demand in the West, the Southeastern States, parts of New England, IN, MT, SD, and WY at over 18+ to 1 LTR. The flatbed spot RPM is up $0.03 from September, averaging $2.53 nationally, with the Southeast holding the highest RPM at $2.70. After a week of large increases, FOTRI reversed course and represented the lone mode with a decrease. The FOTRI saw a sharp drop to 10.11, down from last week’s value of 12.79.
- Reefer: National reefer demand decreased by 20.2% to a 10.32-1 LTR nationally, with the highest demand in the Midwest and Western states, AR, CO, IN, ME, MI, MT, NM and lower New England at over 12+ to 1 LTR. The spot RPM for reefers is up $0.05 from September, averaging $2.49 nationally, with the highest rates in the Midwest at $2.78. ROTRI increased for the second straight week. The ROTRI currently sits at 13.82 compared to last week’s value of 13.68.
International Updates:
- FBX Trends: Container rates were down from last week with the average cost of an FBX01 container down 8% to $1,431, and the FBX global container average down 7% to $1,546. The FBX03 decreased 8% from last week to $3,015.
- Port of LA: The port reported a 5.26% YOY volume decrease from 22 scheduled vessels during the week of October 12, 2025. For the week of October 19, volume is projected to decrease 7.26% YOY, with 21 scheduled vessels moving 112,770 TEUs.
